Ooops! I mean Karate fighting (that doesn't sound as good). For Parker's birthday in March we gave him Karate lessons. It has been so much fun. He has loved every minute of it. I like it because it teaches great values and discipline. In five weeks he has advanced to yellow belt. He had to memorize 10 attitudes (things like "when you believe you can do it then the how to do it develops.") and 2 katas. He worked really hard and was able to get his yellow belt on Wednesday and participate in his first tournament on Saturday.
Karate tournaments are a new thing for me and I'm not sure about the etiquette. Can you yell out and cheer, or will that land him a kick in the head? Not sure! I do know that he did really great and we are super proud of him. He took 2nd place for his kata and earned a medal. He did really well in his sparring and did surprisingly well considering he has only had 5 lessons.
(Parker is the yellow belt)
